Challenge
During our work to automate smart home systems for the Lauren Project, we faced numerous challenges. These included ensuring the automatic shades were intelligently temperature-operated, as well as incorporating lighting and interior screens not presented in the original plan – which for an integrator or installer is never an ideal scenario!
Solution
These problems were easily addressed by Loxone’s Home Automation solutions. The interior screens, from SOMFY, were connected to the RS232 via Somfy's URTSI, allowing us to integrate them seamlessly with the Touch Pure Tree's temperature reader and exterior shades using the Nano 2Relay. Dealing with the lighting posed a separate challenge; although we initially proposed Loxone for control, the architects opted to go with the suggestion of their lighting designer. However, with no existing controller, integrating this proposed solution meant new wall holes, mismatched switches, and extensive equipment wiring. Two weeks before completion, they informed us they had selected a mix of both 0-10v LED and 120v LED lights. Luckily, we foresaw this eventuality and installed extra Loxone Tree and Cat6E cables, eliminating the need for additional wiring and ensuring this potentially complicating last minute change could be handled quickly and easily without the need for profit reducing additional labor hours.

I was amazed that with Loxone, BABCON LLC was able to make the lights flash when the doorbell was pressed! That's one of the best features of the build, particularly for my daughter. Now she doesn't have to worry about having her hearing aids with her at all times. Keith Home Owner
